Amphitorium

Founder’s Memorial Amphitorium (FMA) is one of the most widely used buildings for services and convocations. The instrument in the FMA is an Allen MDS-85 digital organ. It has 48 computers for tone production, each measuring approximately three inches by five inches, and four additional computers for auxiliary functions.

The organ has 91 stops (110 ranks), and 68 speakers, with approximately 3600 watts RMS. Click for the complete specification list. More than three miles of cable connect the organ and its amplifiers and speakers. Installed in 1993, the organ was the largest computer organ installation Allen had done so far.

The cavernous 7,000 seat amphitorium was built in 1973. The building was created to allow each seat to have an excellent view of the stage.

The dedicatory recital, titled "Worthy is the Lamb", was played by Thomas Hazleton of Allen Organ Company on November 14, 1993. Click to view the program cover or to listen to a sample from the actual recital.
